Vehicle Insurance Cost In Florida
Reader’s Question:
What are the average vehicle insurance costs in Florida? Any tips on how to get a cheaper deal?

It’s difficult to give you any price estimates for vehicle insurance costs in California without providing more information about your car, (model, mileage, age etc.) the coverage, (Liability, UM/UIM, PIP, Umbrella etc.) and you (age, gender, profession, driving history etc.) However, if you must have an estimate, prepare to spend about $800 to $900 for modest car insurance coverage.
And with regards to your second question:
• Shop around
Competition among companies is always a good thing for the consumer. There’ll be a lot of vehicle insurance companies out there who are trying to outdo each other by providing cheaper premiums for more coverage. You just have to look for them.
• Stick to the minimum
You’ll definitely get lower insurance premiums, but this is not advised. Since Florida doesn’t use a tort system to determine who’s at fault, it wouldn’t matter if you drive carefully. And the minimum required property liability and personal injury protection rates in Florida are a measly $10,000. Get the minimum only if you’re really desperate to save money.
• Increase deductibles
Advisable if you have a healthy bank account. You’ll get lower premiums, but you’ll have to fork out more money from your pockets when you do get into an accident.
• Negotiate
One last thing: don’t be afraid to ask your broker if you can get a lower premium. They’ll ask you how much your desired monthly premium will be, and you can both work out how much you’ll be willing to spend for your desired vehicle insurance costs.
