Van Insurance In Florida
Reader’s Question:
I am planning to buy a van for my mom and I also need insurance for it. What are the factors that contribute to the price of van insurance in Florida?
Jenny
Orlando, Florida
First of all, you should be aware of the general make-up of the van that you are planning to buy and the personal factors that the insurers may ask you. There are several potentially negative factors that you won’t be able to change. The insurers will have many choices available to you, as the policy holder. Here are some of the factors that affect the price of van insurance in Florida:
1. The type of van you buy – The size of your van matters when you get it insured. The larger the engine size and capacity, the more insurance premiums you will have.
2. The distance you travel – If you are the kind who drive less, then you don’t have much of a problem. People who use their van for business and those who commutes long distances will have to pay higher because there will be greater risks of accidents. If you will use it for business, then might as well get a Transit Insurance too. It will provide coverage for you goods if they might get damaged, stolen or be included in a vehicular accident.
3. The age, sex, and civil status – All drivers who are under the age of 25, especially for young and single males will have to pay higher. Accident rates for this age bracket are higher.
4. Your driving record – For the people who are accident-free for some years, they will be paying less van insurance in Florida than those who have encountered accidents already.
5.The places you travel to – This will certainly affect the premium because of the increasing rates of theft, vandalism, and accidents. The people who live in the rural areas will generally be paying less than those who live in the urban areas
Vehicle Insurance Broker Here In Florida
Reader’s Question:
I want to know exactly when I should file a complaint against a vehicle insurance broker in Florida. How do I go about it?
Winnia
Orlando, FL
When you’ve got a problem with the treatment and excuses vehicle insurance brokers in Florida, (and anywhere else in the U.S., for that matter,) you have to be very, very careful with taking any sort of legal action. You don’t want to be counter-charged by your insurance company for making false claims. Here is a few quick steps you need to do before filing a complaint:
• Review policy and bill of rights (and responsibilities)
Before you storm the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation with a complaint, you have to carefully read and understand both your insurance policy and your consumer bill of rights. Both will delineate how you’ll go about the business of making a claim, and both will show if your insurance company is pulling a fast one on you.
• Take photos and videos
As cliché as it may sound, taking a couple of shots of your car and its condition after the accident can help give you a little edge in justifying the damage. It’ll be hard to justify the extent of damage your car received when your car is all patched up by the time the adjuster comes around to assess the damage. Or better yet, don’t repair your car till he or she arrives.
• Talk with the adjuster
Ask him or her to make an itemized list that will justify all expenses in the claim settlement offer. The last thing you want to do is file a complaint against your vehicle insurance broker without anything to back up your claims. This is a vital piece of information that you’ll need when finally making insurance claims.
Vehicle Insurance Cost In Florida
Reader’s Question:
What are the average vehicle insurance costs in Florida? Any tips on how to get a cheaper deal?
Peterson,
Miami FL
It’s difficult to give you any price estimates for vehicle insurance costs in California without providing more information about your car, (model, mileage, age etc.) the coverage, (Liability, UM/UIM, PIP, Umbrella etc.) and you (age, gender, profession, driving history etc.) However, if you must have an estimate, prepare to spend about $800 to $900 for modest car insurance coverage.
And with regards to your second question:
• Shop around
Competition among companies is always a good thing for the consumer. There’ll be a lot of vehicle insurance companies out there who are trying to outdo each other by providing cheaper premiums for more coverage. You just have to look for them.
• Stick to the minimum
You’ll definitely get lower insurance premiums, but this is not advised. Since Florida doesn’t use a tort system to determine who’s at fault, it wouldn’t matter if you drive carefully. And the minimum required property liability and personal injury protection rates in Florida are a measly $10,000. Get the minimum only if you’re really desperate to save money.
• Increase deductibles
Advisable if you have a healthy bank account. You’ll get lower premiums, but you’ll have to fork out more money from your pockets when you do get into an accident.
• Negotiate
One last thing: don’t be afraid to ask your broker if you can get a lower premium. They’ll ask you how much your desired monthly premium will be, and you can both work out how much you’ll be willing to spend for your desired vehicle insurance costs.
Orlando Car Insurance
Reader’s Question:
What are the minimum coverage in an Orlando car insurance? Are they enough?
Marty
Orlando FL
You are fortunate since Orlando and the entire state of Florida has one of the lowest minimum liability coverages in the country. That means an Orlando car insurance is required to only have a $10,000 bodily injury for one person, $20,000 for all bodily injuries and $10,000 for property damage. If your car is inexpensive and old, you can consider limiting your insurance to the minimum requirement since it will mean a lower premium for you to pay. However, if you have a flashy car that would cost a lot when stolen, you better have more than a liability coverage. Under an Orlando car insurance, the liability coverage only protects you up to a certain point. Particularly, it only protects you from third party liability. That means, you are responsible for paying for whatever damages and losses that will happen to your vehicle. To protect you from this future liability, you should consider having a comprehensive coverage in your Orlando car insurance. This coverage will save you from having to worry over theft, vandalism and other forms of damages that could happen to your car. If money is not an object, there are a host of other coverages that you can include in your insurance. Just inquire about them from your insurer.

Orlando Car Insurance
Reader’s Question:
What should I know about buying Orlando car insurance?
Carl
Orlando, FL
Orlando car insurance naturally follows the state’s minimum requirements. Two important laws dictate car insurance in this state: Financial Responsibility and No-Fault. The first one mandates that every driver should have liability coverage with the following limits – $10,000 for one person’s bodily injuries, $20,000 for the bodily injuries of two people or more, and $10,000 for any damaged property. The second one on the other hand, mandates that every driver should be insured at least $10,000 for injuries on his own person (Personal Injury Protection) and another $10,000 for any damages to his own property. Whatever your circumstances may be, this is the lowest level of Orlando car insurance that you can purchase. Anything less will get you classified as underinsured.
Orlando drivers, according to some surveys, get stuck in traffic 54 hours in a year. This fact may affect Orlando car insurance rates as companies sometimes use traffic density as an indicator of how much they might lose in claims for a year of operation. More traffic means more traffic accidents which in turn lead to more possible car insurance claims. This city also happens to have a fairly large student population and gets visited by a lot of tourists. So don’t be surprised if the majority of Orlando car insurance is geared towards providing for young drivers and rented cars.

Florida Vehicle Insurance
Reader’s Question:
At what age will my insurance rate go down? How does age affect premiums, anyway? Does Florida vehicle insurance go with the trend, or is it different here? Thanks! I hope you don’t mind me asking so many questions.
Darren
Sarasota, FL
Usually, beginning age 25, you should already see a decline in your vehicle insurance premium rates. It is believed that when you reach this age (25 years old), you will able to get discounts off your annual or monthly rate. Many insurance companies, including those in the Florida vehicle insurance business, believe that this age group is considered less risk and is regarded as safe drivers, according to statistics. When assessing for risk, they are regarded as neutral risk – anywhere in the middle between high risk and less risk. Though at times age is not always a determining factor for this discount. Even at an age of, say 23, and you have maintained a clean driving record, you will be eligible for a Mature Driver’s Discount. Usually it takes 3 years of driving experience to credit your eligibility for this discount. Also, you can get other discounts for carrying your insurance for quite some time; you could also avail for Loyalty Discounts or No Claims if you have been carrying an insurance policy and have maintained it for quite some time with that of the same insurance company.
Age is being regarded as determinant of risk factors when assessing an individual for risk. Like for instance, those at a young age would be considered as higher risk, middle-aged individual to be neutral risk, and senior citizens to be either lower or higher risk depending on their situation and physical fitness. Their age would define their premiums when it concerns insurance rates or cost and Florida vehicle insurance will not be an exemption.
Cheap Car Insurance Young Rates In Florida
Reader’s Question:
I got a speeding ticket last year. That was in July if I’m not mistaken. All I did was enrolled in a defensive driving class to have those tickets removed. Now, I got another speeding ticket just last week. Can I still choose to enroll in a defensive driving class to remove my violation? I’m just afraid that this violation will affect the cheap car insurance young rates in Florida that I’m getting right now. Help!
Nathalie
Coral Springs, FL
The good thing about living here in Florida is that you have the option to enroll in driver’s education program to remove points from your license. Not all states allow that option. And you’re fortunate enough that you were allowed to do that before. But I guess right now, you’re not that lucky.
The state of Florida only allows the option of attending a traffic schools to remove tickets from your license once every 12 months. If I’m not mistaken, that 12 month period would start from the time you received that ticket. So in your case, that would be July last year and the 12th month would be in June of this year. Meaning, you cannot enroll yet in another traffic school course because it’s still within the 12 month period. You can only enroll in July. And remember you can only take this option of ticket removal for a total of five times in your lifetime.
Since you don’t have the option of removing the tickets from your license, I am not sure if this will affect your current cheap car insurance young rates in Florida or not. That depends on your car insurance company. To make sure, you can ask your car insurance agent and ask what factors affect your cheap car insurance young rates in Florida.
